2009-2012 UMW Goals
To experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ:
Provide for the needs of women, children and youth by
1) Participating in local missions: i.e., schools, homeless shelters, domestic/substance abuse centers
2) Observing Children’s Sabbath
3) Implementing the Campaign for Children
Encourage attendance at Conference Social Issues Workshop and pursue a 3% increase each year
Implement the Charter for Racial Justice policy
Encourage membership in the UM Action Network
To develop a creative, supportive fellowship:
Increase and energize membership by encouraging active outreach to 1) Teens; 2) Young Women; 3) Newly Retired Women; 4)Previous members
Nurture membership through use of mentors, prayer partners
Encourage attendance at all District and Conference events
Encourage local, District and Conference groups to provide scholarships to attend conference events
To expand concepts of mission:
Encourage regular use of UMW program materials (Program Book ,Response (including Response moment at meetings), New World Outlook, Prayer Calendar)
Encourage participation in
1) Mission Education Events such as: Conference School of Christian Mission and District-wide Mission Studies and local Mission Studies
2) Reading Program
3)Mission Today Program
Increase attendance at Conference School of Christian Mission by 2% each year
Promote local units’ observance of UMW Sunday utilizing speakers who support and interpret the purpose and mission work of United Methodist Women
Develop leadership through leadership training (Conference, District, and Local)
Support and interact with Mission Agencies within South Georgia Conference which are related to Women’s Division
To participate in the global ministries of the church:
Encourage an increase in Pledge to Mission by
1) Promoting Five Star Unit achievement
2) Encouraging giving to the Quarterly Supplemental Giving
3) Corresponding with mission personnel listed in the Prayer Calendar
Support UMCOR through monetary donations and/or supplies
