Can you dig it? KidzQuest helps students live life 'to the max'

9/7/2012

Christians are called to “have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

At this year’s KidzQuest retreat, set for Sept. 28-30 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island, students will discover how to do just that – they’ll learn how God has called them to live life “to the max!”

Designed for students in the third through sixth grades, this annual children’s retreat promises to be hip, groovy, far out and bursting with learning, worship and fun.

This year’s event, with the theme, “Give Me: Peace, Love and Jesus,” will help kids learn how to live the abundant life that God has called them to. They’ll be taught about God’s peace – the peace that passes all understanding – and how to handle the everyday worries, fears and pressures of home, school and friends. The weekend’s theme verse, from Psalm 119, focuses on that peace. “The people who love your instruction enjoy peace and lots of it. There is no stumbling for them.” (Psalm 119:165 CEB) They’ll also learn about how much God loves them and that those who love God’s law will not stumble.

“Nothing compares to the energy of more than 500 kids worshiping together and diving into God's truths found in His word,” said Allison Lindsey, associate director of Connectional Ministries. “This retreat gives kids an opportunity to have time away from their normal day-to-day experiences to worship, study the Bible, learn while being entertained, enjoy activities on the island and so much more.”

Returning to KidzQuest this year are guest speaker and entertainer Keith Coast, worship leader Charlie Bancroft, and emcee Brandon Rushin.

By combining the art of illusion, escapes, ballooning and comedy along with the Gospel, guest speaker and entertainer Keith Coast will create an unforgettable experience. Keith believes that Christians should have more fun than anyone else because of the joy they have in Christ. It’s always easier to share the love of the Lord with a smile, and Coast specializes in making smiles.

Charlie Bancroft, “Uncle Charlie,” is among the most sought after kids’ worship leaders in the country and has led worship for KidzQuest many times.

Rounding out this all-star team is our favorite emcee Brandon Rushin, or “Hey Ya” as we like to call him.  Hey Ya will keep us entertained with fun and games and even promises to teach us a few new dance moves. Brandon brings an energetic personality that is contagious for the kids. His interactive/fun characters leave such a lasting impression on the kids - they will remember (and recount) their experience for years!

“New this year are on-line resources for churches to use for church time and quiet time that complement our theme and scripture for the weekend, or churches can plan their own,” Lindsey said. “This retreat fills up fast so be sure and get your registration in early.”
