Mrs. Jean McCrary

Mrs. Margaret Jean Connett McCrary, 87, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. Mrs. McCrary, who was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Greenville, Penn., was preceded in death by her parents, Manning Leroy Connett and Isabelle Abel Connett and brother William Manning Connett. She was a graduate of the Chicago Evangelistic Institute with a degree in Sacred Literature and held three degrees from Georgia Southern University. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a past president of the Ladies Golf Association and the Retired Baldwin County Teachers Association, and was a member of the First UMC where she taught the George O. King Sunday school class and held Bible studies. Mrs. McCrary enjoyed playing bridge. She is survived by her daughter Linda Jean McCrary Ellison of Milledgeville; son Howard "Gray" (Janet) McCrary, Jr. of Leesburg; grandchildren Katie M. Wall, Michael Kevin McCrary, and Autumn Ellison Chapman; great grandchildren Millie Gray Chapman and Matthew Scot Wall; and sister Kathryn Virginia Connett Fischer. Services were held Saturday, May 26, at the First UMC of Milledgeville with Dr. Mike Cavin, Dr. Jay Hodges, and Allison Griner officiating.
