Opening New Worlds Conference – April 13-14
Wesley Glen Ministries presents Opening New Worlds, a church, caregiver, teacher, and parent disabilities ministries conference. Set for April 13-14 at Wesley Glen Ministries’ Life Skills Center in Macon, the conference is co-sponsored by Developmental Disabilities Ministries and Wesley Glen Ministries. Attendees can pick four workshops from the following: Spiritual Concepts for People with Autism, Special InDeed, Understanding and Managing Behaviors, Healthy Sibling/Family Relationships, Health Issues for People with Developmental Disabilities, Navigating the State School System, Respite Care Ministry Toolbox, and Planning for the Future for your Dependent with Special Needs. A Sexual Ethics Workshop is scheduled for April 24 at Warner Robins First United Methodist Church. This workshop is required every three years for persons serving under appointment by the Bishop (clergy, local pastors, extension ministers, appointed lay speakers). General Conference – April 24-May 4
General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church. The 1000-member assembly meets once every four years to consider revisions to church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for churchwide programs for the next four years. The 2012 meeting will take place April 24-May 4 at the Tampa Convention Center.
