Emanuel UMC small group studies – starting Feb. 5/6
Emanuel United Methodist Church in Brunswick is offering upcoming two small group opportunities – Losing to Live and Financial Peace University. Losing to Live is a 12-week faith based weight-loss program. Meeting on Mondays, it runs Feb. 6 – April 23. Financial Peace University is a 13-week video series taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey. This life-changing program will teach participants how to achieve their financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future, and giving like never before. Meeting on Sundays, the class runs Feb. 5 – May 6. Both will meet at Emanuel UMC in Brunswick. Call 912-265-0948 for more information.

Clergy Sexual Ethics Workshop – Feb. 9
A Sexual Ethics Workshop is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2012, at Epworth By The Sea from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  This workshop is required every three years for persons serving under appointment by the Bishop (clergy, local pastors, extension ministers, appointed lay speakers). Please note that spouses and lay employees who are not appointed by the bishop are not eligible to attend the workshop.

Early Response Team Training, Gray – Feb. 10-11

Effingham County Campground BBQ & Bake Sale – Feb. 11
On Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, the Effingham County Campground will host its 14th Annual BBQ & Bake Sale from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Effingham County Campground Dining Hall.  Boston Butt, green beans, and potato salad will be served.  Eagles trip to Green Bough House of Prayer – Feb. 21-22
The South Georgia Eagles, a group of retired United Methodist ministers and their spouses, are invited to experience Ash Wednesday at the Green Bough House of Prayer in Scott, Ga. The group will gather at Green Bough on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. for a supper and orientation session with Fay Key and Steve Bullington, founders of the House of Prayer. On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, the group will again gather at Green Bough at 9:30 a.m. to experience Ash Wednesday worship and lunch in preparation for the season of Lent. The first eight people to register will be able to stay on the Green Bough campus.  Additional registrants can stay in Dublin at the Jamison Inn at a special rate.To register, call Rev. Disciple Covenant Conference – Feb. 24-25
The 2012 Disciple Covenant Conference (DCC) is set for Feb. 24–25, 2012, at the Macon Centreplex in Macon. The DCC is an experience where clergy, staff and laity come together to develop and improve personal and congregational covenants based on the timeless values of our faith. Speakers for the two-day event include Tim Stevens, Sister Kathleen Flood, Jim and Jennifer Cowart and Jay Hanson. Robert McMichael and Jarvis Wilson will lead worship for the event.
