The South Georgia Conference welcomes Kara Witherow, a United Methodist with extensive experience in communications, as the editor of the South Georgia Advocate. Kara has worked in the media relations, public relations and marketing fields, having worked for Gaylord Entertainment in Nashville, Tenn. (parent company of the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center) and the Sea Island Company in St. Simons Island. She holds a degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi, where she was a staff writer for the Daily Mississippian newspaper. She and her husband, Patrick, reside in Brunswick, and are members of The Chapel.
