Happy New Day and Happy New Year!

January 05, 2015

FROM THE BISHOP
JAMES R. KING, JR.

Greetings, beautiful people of South Georgia!

The beauty of life is the gift of choice today. Each day is an obvious gift of grace. We awaken with the fresh opportunity to begin anew. The old has passed away. The past is like a two-sided coin. On one side, the past problems can define us and help shape a negative view about the future. Past experiences that have been successful or favorable in some way can support a general attitude of entitlement. Very few Super Bowl champions repeat themselves the following year. On the other hand, the past can be a launching pad for a brand new opportunity to embrace a fresh hope or reclaim an unfinished plan with wisdom from the past.

Regarding the past, if you are open I invite you to pray this prayer:

Oh loving and holy God, give me the strength to let go of an unsatisfying past and claim with faith the best way forward for me.

In the name Jesus Christ, Amen.

Two goals for South Georgia to reach in 2015

FIRST GOAL: Know and Grow - 20,000 members from our local churches and agencies studying the life of Jesus Christ by following 5 steps:

1. Pray for God to order my steps as a disciple of Jesus Christ

2. Read one of the gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke or John.

3. Study the life and teaching of Jesus Christ with someone else i.e. friend, small group, Bible Study, Sunday School class.

4. Record your participation.

5. Report your participation.

SECOND GOAL: Start Building our Conference Center

I am asking you to give in support of building a HOME for the South Georgia Conference. Join me in praying to complete this goal by the 2015 Annual Conference session. We are very close now … we can do this as God gives us strength.

Apportionments

A BIG thanks for giving to ministry through the apportionments. You are a wonderful blessing to God's glory as you give in ways that support God's church and expand God's Kingdom.

Until next time, remember – God’s will for us is good. We must do the rest.

Growing a Christlike world.

With love,

Your Bishop,
James R. King, Jr.
